Word for Today: March 4
The Mysteries will be revealed.
In the Gospels Jesus told His disciples that they were given the ability to “know the mysteries of the Kingdom of God.” Luke 8:10 In this context a “mystery” is something that has previously been hidden but is now made known.
Paul wrote about “the mystery” in the letter to the Ephesians. He spoke of the revelation of this mystery and the “fellowship” or communication and joint participation of the mystery which God is making known to the Church; Ephesians 3:8-9:
8 Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable (beyond finding out) riches of Christ;
9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship (communication; joint participation) of the mystery, (a hidden or secret thing, not obvious to the understanding) which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:
According to Paul, this truth or “mystery” had been “hid” in God from the beginning of the world. The “Eternal Purpose” and Plan of God is the revealing and unveiling of this “hidden” truth which centers in the Redemptive Work of Jesus Christ.
What all this means, I believe, is that in the latter days, truths that have been “hidden” in God from the beginning of all creation will be supernaturally revealed to the Church. The power and effectiveness of this revelation will be the Force that makes the Church that Glorious Church we read about in Ephesians 5:27:
That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
