What really happened at the Cross?
1. At the Cross, Jesus abolished death
Death has been rendered “inactive” for the believer. It is no longer the end, but it has become the beginning for those who are Born. Again. (Gateway to Glory)
2Tim. 1:10 But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:
1Cor. 15:54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
1Cor. 15:55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
1Cor. 15:56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.
1Cor. 15:57 But thanks be to God. which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
We will live again.
2. At the Cross, Jesus removed satan’s nature from the New Creation Man.
“New Creation…” Old things passed away
This is the Divine Spiritual Surgery performed by the Great Physician. He took something out and He put something in. Believers are no longer “sinners” they are “sons of God.”
John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
3. At the Cross, Jesus imparted the very Nature of God into the Believer.
The most miraculous transplant in the history of creation.
2Pet. 1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
4. At the Cross, Jesus delivered the Believer from satan’s dominion.
The Eternal Emancipation Proclamation… the greatest liberation man has ever known. Every believer is totally free from satan’s control and sin’s dominion.
Rom. 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
5. At the Cross, Jesus healed the breach between God and fallen man, so that man can walk with God just like Adam did.
Restoration, reconciliation, elevation.
Col. 1:21 And you that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled
Rom. 5:10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
6. At the Cross, Jesus redeemed Believers from the curse of the law.
Believers are forever set free from the sentence of death disease, demons and destruction.
John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
Gal. 3:13 Christ hath redeemed us from the Curse of the law being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
Rev. 5:9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;
7. At the Cross, Jesus made it possible for Believers to become the temple of the Holy Ghost
Our physical body becomes God’s dwelling place
1Cor. 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
1John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world
8. At The Cross, Jesus brought the Believer into the Realm of God’s Ability.
Eph. 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think. according to the power that worketh in us
9. At the Cross, Jesus elevated the Believer from the Natural into the Supernatural. No longer “mere” men anthropos (anth’‑ro-pos) natural men, but Pneumatikos / Spiritual men.
Eph. 3:19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
Rom. 8:14 For as many as are led, by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
The Cross is the place of Restoration. All that Adam lost Jesus regained. Because of the Cross:
1. Believers now have Right Standing with God.
2. Believers now are recreated in the Image of God.
3. Believers can exercise Power and Authority on the earth and over satan.
4. Believers can enjoy communion and fellowship with the Father.
5. Believers can live in and experience perfect and perpetual healing and health.
6. Believers can walk in prosperity and success in all areas of life.
7. Believers can rest in total protection and, assurance.
8. Believers can reign in this Life and ultimately rule in heaven.
Alas, and did my Savior bleed And did my Sovereign die?
Would He devote that sacred head for such a worm as I?
Well might the sun in darkness hide, and shut his glories in
When Christ the mighty Maker died for man the creature’s sin
But drops of grief can ne’er repay the debt of love I owe,
Here, Lord I give myself away, Tis all that I can do!
At the Cross at the Cross, Where I first saw the Light,
and the burden of my heart rolled away
It was there by faith I received my sight, and now I am happy all the day!
