It matters

It really matters what and how you believe.  You can’t just believe anything and everything and live.  If you do not Believer Right you move into the realm of death.  If you do not Believe Right you will constantly be defeated and overcome by demon forces.

Jesus said to Martha at the tomb of Lazarus:

I am the resurrection and the life; he that believeth in me though he were dead, yet shall he live;  and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.  Believeth thou this?  John 11:25-26.

Do you Believe?  What do you believe?  How do you believe?  In whom do you believe?  Be sure you believe right.  Ignorance is no excuse.  False doctrine and flawed teaching is no excuse.  Religious tradition and denominational doctrines are no excuse.  To believe right is believing:

• That the Bible is the Word of God.
• That Jesus is the Son of God.
• That Jesus Died on the Cross for the sin of the world.
• That Jesus went to hell and conquered the devil.
• That Jesus rose again in the fullness of His Resurrection Power.
• That He is Alive.  Now.  And forever.
• That He has empowered His Church to do His Work on earth.
• That He is returning to claim His own and establish His Earthly

Believing this really matters.

Believing right determines your eternal future

Your choice to live and not die must be made in the present.

It cannot be made in the past and it cannot be made in the future… it must be made in the present.    Once you choose you set the entire course of your life.  Your life begins to flow in the direction of your choice.  When you choose to live things pertaining to life begin to happen all around you.  When you choose to give in and give up, you begin to die and things of death begin to happen all around you.

Your choosing life will affect your family and your future.  It will save or destroy.  It will bring health or cause disease.  Your choice to live will change circumstances and situations.

As you choose daily to live and not die you determine your daily Spiritual and Physical Welfare.  You will win when you choose life.  You will lose when you choose death.  These are choices you make on a daily and hourly basis.  People who are constantly sad, frustrated, depressed, despondent, anxious, hurt, angry and impatient are experiencing all these negative forces simply because they refused to choose life.

Have you wondered how some people seem to always be happy and full of joy?  Have you wished that you could be the same way?  You can, too.

Because it is up to you.

It is a matter of choice.

Your Choice

I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:  Deut 30:19

Practically every situation on the world scene today is indicative of death, decay and defeat.

Fear prevails.  War threatens.  Terror rules.  Starvation and deprivation are the norm for two-thirds of the earth’s population.  There is NO HOPE in the natural.  Even at life’s best, death is only a heart-beat… a single breath away.  Cemeteries and funeral homes and hospitals and morgues are a constant reminder of the relentless pursuit of death.  Death is the counterpart of life in the world system and it is constantly overtaking the living.

But there is a way to live and keep from dying.

The Bible says that we can Choose Life and Refuse death.

I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you Life and Death blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may LIVE…   (Deut 30:19).

To choose Life and refuse Death is to Choose God and refuse the devil.

For He (God) is thy life and the length of thy days… (Verse 20).

Now, since people had rather live than die how can they do it?  Had you rather live than die?  Then it’s up to you.  Most think they can do nothing about life and nothing about death, but the Bible says that you have the privilege of Choosing which one you want…  The Bible says that we have a choice in the matter.  As a matter of fact, it gives us a simple multiple choice test.  Then, God is so anxious for you to get it right, He tells you which answer to choose!

When you choose to live you also choose for your seed to live.  When you choose to die you also choose for your seed to die.

God has bestowed awesome power in you.  He has given you the power and authority to choose.  What you choose and accept is what will come to pass.  What you refuse and resist is what will go away.  This is a Divine Principle set forth in the Word.

What choice will you make today?

It is important to know Who you are, What you have, What you can do and Why you can do it.

The devil constantly tempts us to doubt.  he wants us to doubt who we are (he tried to get Jesus to doubt Who He was) or to wonder who we are or to be ignorant of who we are.

As long as we are not sure of our position in Christ, our Authority and our Faith will not work.  We cannot receive and achieve if we are confused, conflicted or uncertain about what God says concerning who we are, what we have, what we can do and why we can do it.

God has raised up strong Word Churches and anointed preachers in order to instruct His people about their privileges, their powers and their Rights which are revealed in the Word.

Anointed Leaders are set in the Body as master craftsmen to build us up in the Word.  We are “God’s Building” and they are Holy Ghost Craftsmen equipped with the Proper Building Materials to make us strong in the Lord and in the Power of His might.

They are Called and Sent by God for our instruction, our enlightenment and our inspiration.  They are God-appointed “explainers” and “exhorters” to inform us and give us insight and revelation regarding what God says concerning:

• Who we are
• What we have
• What we can do and
• Why we can do it

Knowing this gives us a winning advantage over every attack of the enemy.

Joshua faced the impossible.  He was the new leader of four million griping, immature, complaining Jews.  Moses had led them out of Egypt and now God has raised up Joshua to take them into the Promised Land.  However, the flooded Jordan blocked their entrance.  Just as the Red Sea had challenged Moses, now the swirling, threatening swift flood waters of the Jordan challenged Joshua.  The melting snows on Mount Herman has transformed the gentle stream of the Jordan River into a rushing, muddy, flooded torrent that was nearly a mile wide in some places.  Everything about the situation Joshua faced screamed “IMPOSSIBLE!!” 

            Israel could not see the land of promise from looking at the flooded Jordan.  They were on the “wrong side” of God’s Promise and were ready to retreat into the desert.  If this is where you are, this message is for you!!

Notice:

1.  Joshua rose early in the morning.  (1) 

            Seek God first and seek Him early.  Get your priorities in order.  Don’t give the devil time to play with your brain… first thing in the morning get before God and seek His face.

2.  Face your Jordan… don’t retreat from it!! (1)

            “…they came to Jordan…and lodged there before they passed over.”  Whatever your Jordan is… face it.  Stay with it.  Don’t move from it.  Lodge with it until it is convinced that you mean business!!

3.  When God moves… go with Him!!  (3)

            The Ark of the Covenant represented the very presence of God.  When the Ark moved, the people were commanded to move.  When the priests, the Levites (the spiritual leaders of Israel) moved, the people were commanded to move with them.   Not against them.  Not away from them.  But WITH THEM.  Israel was commanded to Go After God… do not let Him leave without you!! 

4.  This is a New Place in God (4)

            “You have not passed this way before…”  God is taking us into new areas.  We are moving into places we have not been before.  This is Fresh Revelation, and this is Rhema Word.  We are going into places we have not been before, and we will do things we have not done before!!  This is the End-Time move and End-Time Purpose of God.  It is a New Place, and we must stay close to the Ark (close to God) if we are to know the Way!!

5.  Today’s Sanctification brings Tomorrow’s Miracle. (5)

            “Separate yourselves for special holy purposes…”   Miracles will not unless we deal with sin.  “Come out from among them and be separate, saith the Lord…”  “Touch not the unclean thing…”  “To be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace…”  Cleansing is necessary for Spiritual Growth!  If you continue in sin, you will not get over your flooded Jordan.  If you do not deal with your spiritual shortcomings, you will waste away on the wrong side of the river.  Your inheritance will be wasted, and your victory will never come.  Your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost and if you defile the temple, you will languish in weakness and be subject to death.  The works of the flesh are “…adultery (unscriptural sexual relations), fornication, uncleanness (impurity), lasciviousness (all other types of unlawful sex relations…incest, lesbianism, homosexuality, etc.), idolatry extravagant admirations of the heart), witchcraft, hatred, variance (discord, fussing), emulations (jealousy), wrath, strife, seditions (stirring up strife), heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings (carousing, obscene music), and such like…” (Gal 5:19-21).   The only successful way of dealing with sin is to stop it and refuse to do it anymore.  You can if you want to.  There is no such thing as “I can’t help it…”  You can help it if you want to badly enough!!  Don’t let your little personal private sin prevent you from crossing over into the Promises of God!!  What God has is MUCH better than the sin that keeps you on the wrong side of Jordan!!

6.  Promotion comes from God. (7)

            God said: “I will begin to magnify thee in the sight of all Israel…”  If we are to be promoted and exalted, God will do it.  He is the One who “raises up and puts down…”   Promotion never comes without obedience.  Promotion never comes without humility.  Promotion never comes without sacrifice.  Promotion never comes without total commitment to the Calling God has on your life.  The reward for work well done is more work.  If you want to be exalted, then humble yourself.  If you want to be great, be willing to be small, first.  If you aspire to be a leader, you must first be a servant.  If you want a crown, then expect a cross.  If you really live, you must die first.  If you want to have a lot, then give all you have.  Promotion comes from God, and it comes God’s way.  His way is not our way or the world’s way.  His “ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts than our thoughts…” (Isa 55:9).

7.  Hear what God Says!! (9)

            Know that He is among you!!  Know that He will not fail you!!  Know that He will drive out all your enemies before you!!  Know that the Battle is His and not yours!!  Hear the Word of the Lord!!  Hear means to hear!!  It means to listen to what He is saying.  It means to pay attention to.  It means to be aware of.  It means to Hear His voice above the voices of the world system.  It means to hear His voice above the voices of your emotions and your feelings and your reasonings.  Hear what God is saying!!  Hear it NOW!!  “He that hath ears to hear let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the church…”

How do we cross over?

“Enter in…”

 How did we get here? 

            Folks, you had better hear what God is saying because nothing else matters!! The world is rushing full speed down a dead-end street.  There is a great reckoning time just ahead.  We must be tuned in to the Voice of God and we must be ready to move at His command!!

God is going to settle all the scores!!  He is going to balance all the books!!  Justice will come and Righteousness will prevail!!  Hallelujah!!  

            The people “removed from their tents…”  They moved from where they had “settled down…”  Moving with God is exactly that… moving!!  If you don’t move with God, you tend to get left behind!!  Nine times out of 10 Faith is not comfortable!!  It requires risk and it involves discomfort.  To move with God, we must resist the temptation to build nests.  Israel dwelt in tents because God moved so fast.  The problem with the modern church is that we tend to “settle down” and get comfortable.  If we are to go over flooded Jordan, we will have to get out of our comfort zone.

8.  Take the Impossible Step (15)

            God has made His move, now it is your move.  The waters will never part unless you STEP in them.  They will not part when you look at them.  They will not part when you wish they would.  They will not part when you “pray about it…”  They will only part when you step in your impossible flood

            Note:  The Jordan is not “death,” and the Promised Land is not “heaven”.  No offence to the song writers and preachers of times past!!

            The water will only part when you step in the flood!!

Phil 3: 13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Ps. 34:19   Many are the afflictions  (hurts, troubles, adversities, sadnesses) of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth (rescues, recovers) him out of them all.

Not a question of “If” afflictions will come, but rather “when?”

 

When Times are Tough….

Understand what afflictions are and where they come from.

They have a life span.  How we handle them determines how long they last.

So…. If we are Born Again, Afflictions will come.

When they do, what will you do?

We have set our course.   We have made our declaration.  We will press toward the mark for the prize

We have been in training.  We have heard great teaching.  We have heard good preaching.  We have been exposed to the best God has to prepare us for what is about to come forth.   We have been around a while.  We are not novices.    He has provided us with Revelation.   We are, at this very moment, a vital part of His Divine Purpose and Plan for this hour.

Things will change.  Pressures will build.  Situations will happen.  And when they do, what will you do?   

There will be times in your Christian Life when you wonder what is happening.  Things will get spooky.  Situations will get out of control.  The more you try to reel in the problem, the more tangled your line gets.  In the process, you will get tired and weary and impatient.  You will begin to wonder if it is really worth it all.  Discouragement will move in and satan will begin to make you tempting offers and alternatives.  Pursuing God is not an easy thing…  The way into Life is Narrow and Straight and only a few will find it according to Jesus.  Sometimes, the way to get relief seems to be just to quit.   It is always easier to cop out than to cope. 

The greatest temptation any Believer faces is the temptation to quit or back off when afflictions arise. The pressures and stresses of maintaining your Victory Stand may build to the point of breaking.  Situations and circumstances may develop that will press you beyond measure and push you “over the edge”. 

How are believers to handle such situations?  What are we to do when we are pressed beyond measure?  Where can we go to get some “relief?”  Is there a way out when we are at the breaking point?  What are our alternatives?

Here are your options.

1. You can Quit.  You can fold up.  You can collapse.  You can cave in.  You really can.  It is possible.  It is an option you have.

John 6:66   From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.

Jesus wondered if his own disciples were going to quit.  It looked like they were going to do what everyone else was doing… they were going to leave.  Back out.  Go back.  Just because following Jesus became a challenge.  A hard thing.  A dividing thing.  A costly thing.  “Are you leaving, too?

This is an issue we need to face today.  We are nearing the Promised Land… we are close to entering in.  This is when the pressures build and the temptations come.  Will you quit?  Will you throw in the towel?  Will you take a dive?

This is not hard to do and it is always a temptation especially when things really get tough.  When the demands of Jesus become costly.  To quit is the easiest thing to do and it offers the least resistance.  Anybody can quit.  You can quit.  We can quit.  Many have and others will.  What about you?   What will it take to make you quit?  How much more “can you stand?”  Do you have your price?  What will it take for you to sell out?  Are you at your breaking point?  Is quitting a real temptation for you this morning?  Some who are listening are right at the “giving up” and “quitting” stage.  I know it.  I feel it.  I sense it. 

I have learned over the years that the best way to overcome the temptation to quit is to do something radical.  Something weird.  Something unusual.  Something that is not natural.  I like to make bold confessions… especially when I do not feel like doing it.  It seems foolish and impractical, but it is the Thing To Do.  And there is Scriptural evidence to support such an act.  David did it.   Moses did it.  Joshua did it.  So I can do it.  And you can do it.  Let’s do it now.

Let’s make a declaration.  Let’s take a stand.  Let’s announce to hell.  Let’s resolve….  I WILL NOT QUIT.  I WILL NEVER QUIT.  I AM HERE TO STAY…. NO MATTER WHAT.

Now, it’s settled.  It’s settled on earth, in hell and in heaven.  It’s settled in your heart.

2. You can compromise.

To compromise is to settle for something less than God’s Best. To be content and satisfied with less than God’s Will for you.   It is to start with a blast and then fizzle out.  It is to be mediocre.   It is to be less than what God wants and less than what God demands.  To compromise is to look for and settle for the easy way out.  The comfortable way out.  The way of “least resistance.”  To compromise is to refuse to come out of your “comfort zone.”     To compromise is to make a deal with the devil.   

To compromise is to fail the test.  To compromise is to cheat.  To compromise is to consider self more than God. 

satan is probably saying to you right now…”if you will back off, I will back off!”  “If you will ease up, i will ease up…”  “If  you will slow down, i will slow down.”  You can back down and ease up and let off. 

When you receive a revelation that revelation demands a response.  When you hear something and you know it’s for you and it’s from God, that moment and that message demands a response.    No response is really a response.  No action is really an action.  You cannot “do nothing” and escape compromising the Truth.  Nothing is easier to do, requires less effort and less determination that simply staying stuck where you are and compromising that which you know God is prompting you to do. 

You can stop and get stuck where you are. You can retreat and give up ground that you have fought for and won.  Compromise is an alternative.  A real alternative.  A tempting alternative.   To compromise is to stay put.  To compromise is to be comfortable.  To compromise is to be satisfied.  To compromise is to cool off.  To simmer down.  To change what you believe because of what is happening around you.  To compromise is to pull your faith in when you get stepped on.  It is to sit down when God is saying get up and go for it. 

What is that thing (usually it is only one thing) that is preventing you from getting up and going on?  It is that thing that the devil continually throws in your way and blocks your path to victory and fulfillment.  Are you willing to deal with that issue now?  Are you brave and courageous enough today to face off with the devil?  To have a confrontation with those demonic threats and intimidations?  To call the devil’s hand?  To get off the defensive and rush into the offensive?  I believe God brought you here at this time to get free.  To, once and for all, kick the devil in the face and make hell get out of your way.  Will you?

3.  You can feel sorry for yourself and give in to self-pity. 

You can become introverted… introspective.  You can be so caught up in your own problem that that is all you think about.     You can become more concerned about YOU than you are concerned about OTHERS.    You can hunker down in your little world with your little problems and your little faith, suck your little pacifier and watch yourself in the mirror as you grimace, frown, whimper and cry a tear or two.   This, friend, is selfishness of the first order.     

Looking inward can make you compare yourself with others.  Then it can make you mad at others because they are not having it as hard as you are.   It will make you Jealous of others.  It can cause you to be hurt with others.  It will lead you to assuming things and becoming sarcastic.  It will rob you of your joy, contribute to your misery and give great pleasure to the devil. 

It can even make you mad with God. 

You will begin to wonder about the wicked getting blessed and others getting blessed (that are not working as hard as you are or doing nearly as much as you) and you can get mad with God.   Really mad.  Upset.  Disgusted.  Then you will get mean and ornery and hateful.  You will begin to feed on the sympathy that others give you.  Next comes the grumbling and the griping and the criticizing.    All because you got into self-pity.   

This is an option you have… but it is not a good one. 

4.  OR… you can turn your problems into Opportunities to trust God.  

You can wake up.  Shake yourself.   “Come to yourself…”    

You can make your “situations” a test track for the Word of God.  You can stand and sing and shout and refuse to accept defeat.  You can endure and count it all joy when you come into temptations and trials.  You can see every impossible situation as an opportunity to defeat the devil.      There are other things you can do.  There are other things you should do.  Sometimes, I need to shake myself.  To jolt my complacency.   I need to wake up.

Ok… so you have decided not to quit.  You have decided not to compromise.  You have decided not to feel sorry for yourself.  You have decided to turn your problems into Opportunities to trust God… NOW: 

HOW do you do it?   

FIRST….

Understand that you are not the only Believer facing a tough situation.  You are not by yourself.  The very fact that you are tempted to Quit is a good sign…  If nothing is happening to you then you are doing nothing for the Kingdom.  If the devil is not moving, then you are not moving.  If you are not in conflict with the powers of darkness, then you are headed the wrong way.

There are literally thousands of believers standing in tough times.  Facing impossibilities.  Staring down devils.  Our worst problems are like nothing compared with some of the problems others are facing…  

SECOND...

Never expect your Faith Walk to be easy.  You have not chosen an easy way of life.   To live by the Word is the most disciplined life a man or woman can know.     It requires sacrifice, commitment, dedication, discipline.  Every devil in hell is poised to attack.  All the forces of darkness are set in array against you… demon powers have zeroed in on you because you have become a threat to them…. REJOICE and be EXCEEDINGLY GLAD.  SHOUT.  SING.  DANCE.  RUN.  LEAP.  

THIRD...

Review your Salvation Contract with God.  If you will, you will see that there is no provision for quitting in it.  When you got saved, you made a Life Commitment to God with no strings attached.  There were no “what ifs” or “just in cases” or other conditional clauses in the Contract.  God did His part.  Jesus did His part.  The Holy Ghost did His part.   You are requested and expected to ENDURE.    

 “He that endureth unto the end shall be saved…”   Mt 10:22

FOURTH...

Remember your victories in the past.   That is what David did as he faced the Uncircumcised Heathen Giant.   Can you recall any times in the past when God came through for you Big Time?  I remember:

• How God healed our sicknesses for years when we had no insurance
• How God stood delivered us in the midst of controversy over the Baptism of the Holy Ghost as a Baptist Preacher…
• How God fed us and paid our bills during the early years of our ministry.  25.00 a week salary.  How we lived nearly 40 years without a salary from the church.   
• How God met our need in every building project in spite of vicious and relentless attacks of the enemy against our integrity and honesty.  How we Won every Battle and came out stronger and bigger and better.
• How in 53 years of ministering in Mobile we have weathered the storm and stood the test and won the victory.  In spite of criticism and scandalizing and gossip and lies and threats and intimidation… When others failed and retreated and caved in…WE ARE STILL HERE AND WE ARE STRONGER.

STOP right now and REMEMBER YOUR PAST VICTORIES.  

FIFTH…

“Gird up your loins” and renew your efforts to Keep on Keeping on.

Renew your mind so that you can think right in the middle of your tight situation.     If you allow your mind to be renewed by the Word of God so that you will think like God thinks then you will not quit.  God did not Quit.  Jesus did not Quit.  The Holy Ghost did not Quit.  The Word did not Quit.    

Be a non-conformist.  Be a radical.  Be different.  Don’t yield to the pressures and allow them to make you back down.  Make your boldest confession in the midst of your darkest trial.   

Be as persistent as the 3 Hebrew Children:     

Be as unwavering as David when he faced his giant (His impossible situation)

FINALLY…

Rejoice and praise God for the Victory even before it comes.  Sing and shout.  Leap and dance.  Run and jump.  Rejoice and praise God right where you are before you see any signs of relief.  Get you some banners and flags.  Paint you some posters.  Hang out some ribbons.  Advertise your victory before you get it.  Buy you a billboard! Let God see that you are committed to winning and overcoming.     

Persist.  Press through.  Stretch.  See your victory in the eyes of your spirit.  See it so real that you can shout about it.  Sincere, heart-felt praise always precedes victory.

Let’s take an oath of allegiance:   

“I solemnly promise to go on with God.  I vow before heaven and earth and hell that I will never retreat.  I will never back up.  I will never slow up.  I will never give up.   I will remain faithful to the end… so help me God.”

Behold Jesus as a Perfect Man

ALL the miracles that Jesus performed while He was on earth were performed by a Human Being Full of the Holy Ghost and Power.  What He did… we can do.  What He accomplished as a Man, we can accomplish as men and women full of the Holy Ghost and living in that anointing.

He spoke to storms and they stopped.  He spit and made mud from it, put it on blind eyes and they were opened.  He confronted demon powers and they feared and trembled and begged for mercy.  He touched crippled and broken bodies and they were made whole.   He spoke healing to the sick and diseased and they were healed.  He received sinners and had mercy on the guilty.  He loved the unlovable and had compassion on the masses.  He raised the dead… cleansed lepers… resisted the devil… opened graves… interrupted funerals and restored the dead to their families…   He made wine out of water… friends out of enemies… peace out of confusion and torment… joy out of sadness and Heaven out of hell…  And then He told us that:

greater works than these shall ye do; because I go unto my Father… John 14:12.

Jesus is our Example.  Jesus is our Pattern.  Jesus is the guarantee that we can overcome the devil and take dominion over the powers of darkness.

What He did… we can do

Preaching.

When a preacher preaches under the anointing of the Holy Ghost the forces of heaven are released into the earth.  This kind of ministry does not come through training, education, experience or talent… it comes through the Calling.

Those who are the Called are set apart as instruments God uses to release His Power into the place and the point of every human need.

What is preached is important.  We who are the Called are not called to communicate natural things in natural energy through natural knowledge.

We are called to preach and to preach with the unction of the Holy Ghost the unsearchable riches of Jesus Christ… the Gospel of the Kingdom of God.  The Full Gospel.  Everything and all things that God has revealed to us in the Word… The Whole Counsel of God.   The Good News.

The preaching of the Cross… is the Power of God…  1Cor 1:18

The present-day New Testament church cannot be successfully governed by carnal, uncalled, unanointed leadership. It is not and never was the Will of God for the Church to be a democratic institution.

As difficult to understand as it is in our American culture, proper New Testament church government is not democratic in principle.  We need to understand that the leadership of the local church MUST be unfettered.  They must never be controlled, influenced or manipulated by those who are not spiritually minded.

The early church, which is described in the Book of Acts, had a unique and innovative method of government.  It was not governed by democratic principles as most denominational churches are in this present day.  It was Apostolic in nature.

Decisions and actions undertaken by the church must be made and implemented by those whom God has placed in positions of leadership. The Apostle.  The Prophet.  The Pastor.  The Teacher.  The Evangelist. Ruling Elders… those with a Call from Heaven on their lives who are demonstrating the anointing of the Holy Ghost in their lives and ministry. And those who are privileged to occupy such honored positions need to be accountable to one another and respected for their varied ministries.

God will lead, the Word will Guide and success will be guaranteed.
