What really happened at Calvary?

We have read about the Crucifixion, heard sermons on the Crucifixion, studied about the Crucifixion, but in reality very few know and understand what happen on the Cross.  What we believe about the Cross will determine the depth of our Revelation of Jesus.

Justice had decreed that sinful man must pay the penalty for his transgression.  The Human Race stood guilty of spiritual high treason before God.  Man had turned away from God and embraced the devil.  However, the human race was impotent, helpless and incapable of meeting the demands of justice.

“I owed a debt I could not pay,

He paid a Price He did not owe,

I needed Someone just to wash my sins away,

And now I sing a brand new song:  Amazing Grace!

Christ Jesus paid the Price that I could never pay!”

And so out of the Heart of God comes the solution to the human problem.  Jesus steps forward and declares:  “Here am I, send Me…”  And so toward the Cross He goes.

Calvary is center stage for the entire human race.  What happened there is the pivotal point of all history.  Calvary is more than the death of Jesus at the hand of His enemies.  Calvary is more than the suffering and horror of such inhumanity and torture.

  • Calvary involves Jesus and it involves God.
  • It involves man and it involves sin.
  • It involves time and it involves eternity.
  • It is the place of a divine Exchange

Here, Jesus became what man is in order than man can become what Jesus is.

“God made Him to be sin for us who knew no sin that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him…”  II Cor. 5:21

Forgetting and Moving on.

In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;   Eph 1:7

Believers are forgiven.  Not “going to be” but “already are.” God does not look on our sin.  When He looks on us, He can only see a Reflection of Himself.  He is never displeased with us.  Because He can never be displeased with Jesus.  And we are right now, this moment “in this world” as He is in heaven.

Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.  I John 4:17.

God will remember your sin no more.  They are not just “covered” but He has removed all your sin as far as the east is from the west.   (Not from the North to the South… these both have beginning and ending points… there are no beginnings or endings from East and West).   He does not remember them.  He has forgotten them.  So should you.

As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.  Psa 103: 12

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before…  Phil 3:13

So, forget your failures and move on

The Kingdom

“Religious” thinking (this is always a big problem) has removed the Kingdom from where it really is to where we think it is.  When we think of “heaven” we think “far away.”  We think “eternity.”  We think “after we die.”  We think “sometime in the future.”

The devil sees to it that we think wrong about the Kingdom and where it is.  Because he knows that when we find out the Truth, he is doomed.

The Kingdom is in (or within) every believer.   If you are a believer, the Kingdom is inside of you.  Jesus said the Kingdom of God is “within” or “inside” of you.

Neither shall they say, Lo here! Or, lo there! For, behold, the kingdom of God is within (entos:  within, inside) you.”  Luke 17:21

Now, just what is in the Kingdom?   What is there?  What is inside of you?

  • Life
  • Health
  • Peace
  • Joy
  • Power
  • Success
  • Prosperity
  • Boldness
  • Love
  • Faith
  • Forgiveness
  • Patience
  • Strength
  • Soundness of mind

In fact “all things that pertain to life and godliness” are in you. (2Pet 1:3)   It is all there.  It is inside of every believer.  It came at the time of your conversion.  It is the Kingdom of God and it has come.  It is the Answer to the prayer Jesus prayed in Matthew chapter 6.  It will function when you let it.

All Kingdom resources are in you.

What matters to Jesus.

Heart condition matters to Jesus.  The Word tells us that He looks on the Heart… not the outward appearance.  What is in your heart and the condition of your heart will determine the depth of your relationship with Jesus.

What comes out of your mouth was first in your heart.  How you feel toward others and toward God and toward the Church comes from the inner most part of your re-created Human Spirit… your heart.

Revival and Restoration comes from the “reconditioning” of the heart…. Commitment and dedication and fruit production all come from the “reconditioned” heart.  How is your heart?  Are you plagued with “heart trouble”?  The kind of coldness and indifference that is spiritually fatal?

The “don’t care” attitude and the “good-enough-as-I-am” and “satisfied as is” attitude is the direct result of a hardened heart… an “evil heart of unbelief” (Heb. 3:12).

Check your heart

Word for Today:  November 18

It is more than knowledge.

It is acting on the Truth that sets you free… It is more than inspiration.  It is more than feeling.  It is more than emotion.

God expects you to act on what you know and when you do, you sow seeds that begin to grow.  What you sow and what you grow is what you harvest and what you receive.  (Mark 4)

  • You cannot draw out of the bank what you have not put in the bank.
  • You cannot grow in your garden what you have not planted in your garden.
  • You cannot harvest what you have not sown.

When you sow Word Seed in good ground, you are guaranteed a bountiful harvest. You literally begin to “pull out” what God has “put in.” The principle of Sowing is one of the most profound revelations that I ever received from God.

If you know this Truth and then DO this Truth, God promises to make you free.    John 8:32

What you sow is what you grow…

and what you grow is what you get

But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Phil. 4:19

God supplies, and His supply comes out of Jesus.  Now, tell me, Where is Jesus?  Where does He Live?  Where does He Dwell?  Where is His Kingdom?  Where is His Throne?  “Christ in you the Hope of Glory!!”  (Col 1:27)

It is the Will of God for you to live in Abundance.  It is one of the Reasons that Jesus left Heaven and came to Earth… He came to “redeem us from the curse… that the Blessings of Abraham might come on us.”  (Gal 3:13-14)

The Kingdom of God is a Kingdom of Abundance.   It is a Realm and a Dimension in which all the Believer’s needs are met and supplied according to God’s Riches in Glory by Christ Jesus.  (Phil 4:19)

The Church is to function in Abundance. It is the most successful and the most powerful organism on this planet.   Believers are to control the wealth of this earth and the resources of this earth.   The very wealth of the wicked has been laid up and reserved for the Righteous.

When we live in the Abundance Jesus provides, we are living in Victory.

Jesus is your Abundance.  And He lives in you.

Wherever your need is, take Jesus there, show it to Him, and trust Him to supply that need.  He wants to.  He wills to.  He delights in doing it.

He is waiting patiently for you to let Him

Word for Today:  November 13

A famous golf professional recently played two holes of golf in a televised tournament and won more prize money in less than 30 minutes than we have be able to spend on missions in the last five years.

The world really does not need fancy, exotic automobiles, vacation homes, obscene wealth or athletic superstars, or golf trophies, but it desperately needs Jesus.

If people were as glad to hear the Word and as determined to hear the Word as the Christians of the First Century, preachers would be working overtime, three shifts a day seven days a week.

As it is, we have difficulty filling the church building once or twice a year, and then only when we have something really entertaining.  What does that say about the church today?

  • Where else can you get what you get at church?
  • Who else can give you what God gives you at church?
  • How can you say that church is not important when the greatest manifestations of God’s Power and Presence are revealed in the Assembly of the Saints?

How can we expect to stay spiritually strong when we ignore the importance of the preached and taught Word that “happens” in the church?  When we are more excited about going to the movies, or to a ball game or entertaining ourselves, how can we expect to maintain our power over devils and demons and hell?

Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.   Heb 10:25

Let’s get real

Word for Today:  November 12

Jesus started the Church.

It originated with Him and it was born by Him.  He is the Author and the Completer of the Church.   He said He would Build His Church and the gates of hell could not and would not prevail against it (Mat 16).

Jesus never told a lie and He never began anything that failed.  He began the Church, He builds the Church and it is His Church.   It is not my church.  It is not your church.  It is HIS CHURCH.    He is the Head.  He is the Foundation.  He is the Reason and Rationale behind the Church.

  • The Church is as Powerful as Jesus is Powerful.
  • The Church is as eternal as Jesus is eternal.
  • The Church has the same Authority that Jesus has.
  • The Church has the same Power that God has.
  • The Church can do anything that Jesus can do. And even “greater.”
  • The Church can bind and loose just like Jesus can bind and loose.
  • The Church is Supernatural just like Jesus is Supernatural.
  • The Church was birthed to Rule and Reign just like Jesus was manifested to Rule and Reign.

And you and I are the Church.

The Church is Now.  The Church is Today.  The Church is Here.

It is Alive, Well and Filled with Power

Word for Today:  November 8

Jesus breaks the shackles of dead religion.

In spite of the horror of a world without God, Religion flourished.  Religion does not need God to flourish.  Most religion is without God anyway.  It is true today and it was true 2000 years ago.

In the Inter-biblical Period, (the time between the end of the Old Testament and the beginning of the New Testament) the Judiastic system continued on its path of rule and regulation and legalism.

Jesus makes us free.

  • Free from dead religion and man’s traditions and denominational customs.
  • Free from laws and rules and regulations.
  • Free from bondage to carnal deacons, elders, ungodly church leaders and unscriptural church government.

Jesus said that we would and could know the Truth (the Gospel) and the Truth would make us free.   John 8:32

The Jews in Jesus’ day lived in total subjection to:

  • The Law of Moses
  • The sayings of the Prophets and
  • The Writings that had been handed down from generation to generation.

There were 613 separate laws, commandments, rules and regulations that every Jew was required to obey and keep.   Every day.   That is why Jesus said of the Scribes and Pharisees:

“They bind heavy burdens and grievous to be born and lay them on men’s shoulders: but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers…”  Matt. 23:4

Jesus came from heaven to earth to break the shackles of dead religion.

  • Religion builds walls. Jesus builds bridges.
  • Religion separates. Jesus joins together.
  • Religion kills.

Jesus gives Life
