Word for Today:

The Word Performs.

The Word Protects.

The Word Perfects.

The Word Works.

The Word Accomplishes.

The Word Produces.

The Word Creates.

The Word Sustains.

The Word is Indispensable to the believer.

The Level of Victory you are experiencing is directly proportional to the amount of WORD that is active in your life.  This is a fixed equation.

  • The amount of Healing you have is equal to the amount of Word that is active in your life…
  • The amount of Prosperity you have is equal to the amount of Word that is active in your life…
  • The amount of Peace you have is equal to the amount of Word that is active in your life…
  • The amount of Joy you have is equal to the amount of Word that is active in your life…
  • The amount of Faith you have is equal to the amount of Word that is active in your life…
  • The amount of Overcoming power you have is equal to the amount of Word that is active in your life…

All redemptive privileges work proportionally to the level of Word that is active in you.

Whatever revelation you have from the Word is what you will have faith to act on and receive.   Revelation is important because this will determine your level of deliverance.

Knowledge is not enough.  Intellect will not do it.  Revelation is imperative to receiving your deliverance and maintaining it.  Your “Perfection” level will never exceed your Word level.

The Word is Truth and Truth makes you free

The Miracle of Not Preaching

One of our mission excursions into the old Soviet Union back in the late ‘80’s and early ‘90’s took us into the middle of Siberia… exactly 12 times zones removed from Mobile.

The small mining town of Anchero Sudchznsk was our mission destination.  If I remember correctly, there was no airport there and we traveled by bus from Kemerova, a city several hours removed from our destination.

Our team consisted of about 8-10 individuals.   We were the first Americans ever to set foot in this formerly held Soviet region.  Our excitement was equally matched by those precious, persecuted and poor people who met us at the bus stop upon our arrival.

One dear Babuska (grandmother) pulled me aside and in tears spoke through one of our translators… her remarkable story related how over 40 years in the past, in the time of severe persecution by the KGB, a prophecy was given to her small underground church… and that prophecy explained how, some time in the future, a group of foreigners would come to her town and preach the Gospel during a season of peace and freedom.  She had lived long enough to witness the fulfillment of that Word from God… she could not contain her emotions as she held and hugged each member of our team.

We were warned that, in some isolated regions of the Soviet Union, the KGB was still active, even though Communism had failed and the collapse was quite apparent in the large metropolitan areas.  So, I had made this known to our group and we were all a little on edge knowing that we might encounter some opposition from the KGB.

One day our team was being transported in the bus to a preaching site.  We noticed a suspicious black sedan following us.  Even when we changed our route, the black sedan stuck with us.  Our fear of arrest and detainment was heightened when the car sped around us and slowed to a stop blocking our progress.   Four men jumped out of the car carrying packages and indicated that they were going to board the bus.  We all began to pray and wait for the inevitable.  When the door opened, the men burst into our bus, opened the packages and gave ice cream to all our team members.  God is good!

When we gathered for our first meeting in the small Cultural Hall which was secured for the services, the room was filled.  I will never forget the love that filled that place.  We did not speak their language, did not really understand their culture and certainly did not dress as they did.  Everything we encountered was all but totally opposite to what we were normally used to.  The picture of their faces has been indelibly burned into my heart…

We tried to sing a few choruses.  We tried to teach them some new ones.  We were met with frustration as we were hindered from communicating effectively with them even though we had translators.  We were just not “getting through” to them.  Since I was on schedule to preach, it became apparent that any type of verbal communication with this wonderful crowd of spiritually hungry individuals would be all but impossible. So, sometimes it is better for the preacher not to preach.

I asked the team members to gather in a single line on the floor at the foot of the stage.  Then I instructed the translators to inform the crowd to come in an orderly fashion to the front and start at one end of our “line” and pass, one by one, to the other end.  God began to flood over my entire being with an unexplainable river of pure love…. And the same thing happened to the team members.  Without a word said, or a song sung, or a sermon preached.  We did nothing but physically hug and impart the Love of God into each one who passed in front of us.  It took a long time for everyone to get through the line.  And God was doing supernatural things in the lives of those present.  Alcoholics were immediately and supernaturally delivered.  I mean some were so intoxicate they could hardly stand or walk.  They were instantly sobered and saved.  Family relationships were healed.  Numbers of them were saved.  Prayer was made for the sick and infirm.  Miracles happened.  We were fused into one entity by the measureless Love of Almighty God.

Sometimes it is better for the preacher not to preach

Word for Today:

Stand on the WORD.

Maintain your confidence in God’s Faithfulness.  God said it… That settles it.   God promised it and God will provide it.

Let God be true and every man a liar… Rom 3:4

Do not let the things which you have heard “slip”… resist falling back into unbelief and doubt.  Stand on the Word… no matter what.  “Having done all…. stand!”

Actively look for and seek places where you can prove God’s Word.  Hold forth the Word of Life.   Believe the Word by Acting on the Word.  Do the Word.  Speak the Word.  Honor the Word.  Obey the Word.

  • Resist compromise and cast out doubt.
  • Question your questions and doubt your doubts, but believe God’s word.
  • The Word is alive and filled with Power.
  • The Word will perform and accomplish that which God purposed it to accomplish.
  • The Word will not return void.

It will work.  Anytime.  Every time.  All the time.

The Miracle at Lugansk

During the short season of our mission beginnings in the Old Soviet Union which was made possible through the collapse of Communism in 1989, we were blessed to take small groups of people with us into Russia to host meetings, evangelize, and plant churches.  God would guide us to some contact in a certain city or town who would cooperate with us in establishing such a ministry.  We would purchase a small but complete sound system, and often an electronic key board to give the new church a head start in their particular location. Then we would rent a cultural hall, which previously had been used by the Communist Party for their rallies, in which to have our meetings.  They were large enough to accommodate crowds of several hundred up to nearly a thousand.  We were blessed to make numerous such trips in the days shortly after the doors were open for the Gospel to be preached in Russia and God used these trips to build a strong mission foundation at Life Church.

One such meeting was held at Lugansk, in the Ukraine.

It was our passion to present the Gospel in the most excellent way possible, even with the disadvantages presented by our cultural and language differences.  This meant striving to have the best music and worship in the meetings in order to reach the cultured and talented Ukrainians as well as those who were laborers and, often, very poor. One of our translators who had been secured to work with us happened to be a brilliant young Jewish girl.  She had become a Believer through the ministry of a family from out church who had begun a mission ministry in the region.  We discovered that her Jewish father was a very influential leader of a symphony orchestra in Lugansk.

So, we decided to attempt the impossible.  That being to secure this symphony orchestra to lead our worship and praise in the meeting planned for the city.  You can imagine the “impossibility” of this endeavor which would be to get these talented, but unsaved musicians to learn the music and work with us to accompany the singing and worship of a Spirit-filled, full blown Gospel meeting.

At the rehearsals, it was soon apparent that our Symphony conductor was going to be a difficult person to work with.  He was not familiar with Christian protocol and was very stern and, often, impatient.  The members of the orchestra were also totally unfamiliar with the Christian “way” of doing things.  It appeared that we were rushing head-long into a monumental disaster.  And our dream of establishing a loving, caring and compassionate group of Ukrainian believers seemed to be just that, a dream, and not a reality.

One of the songs Pat had chosen for a worship song was very moving and emotional… and one of our favorites.  And this would be the pivotal point of a great miracle…..

“As the deer panteth for the water,

so my soul longeth after thee,

You alone are my heart’s desire

and I long to worship Thee…”

When the symphony leader and the musicians began to play this chorus and when the people began to sing, a supernatural Presence engulfed us all.  The power of God was so real… many began to weep.  And the leader of the symphony was included.

The Miracle of Lugansk was that our interpreter’s Jewish father, the cultured, educated, stern and influential leader of the symphony gave his heart to Jesus.

Following this initial Divine Intervention, some years later, the young girl and her entire Jewish family migrated to Israel… their  spiritual “home.”   Then she, now married and a mom, along with her husband planted a strong Messianic Believer’s ministry, consisting of several churches, in northern Israel which is now thriving and assisting in the relocation of Jewish refugees returning to Israel from all over the world.

Never underestimate the Power and the Plan of the Holy Spirit.

Psalm 42:

1 As the deer panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.

2 My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God:…

The Kingdom of God is in you. (Lk 17:21)

And that Kingdom is adequate to supply all your needs.  Just as Eden was adequate to supply all the needs of Adam and Eve so is the Kingdom sufficient to supply all your needs in this life.

Kingdom principles and Kingdom laws operate by Love.  Love is the Royal Law of the Kingdom of God.   When you violate the Kingdom Law of Love, you prevent heaven from coming to your house.

God’s Kingdom works by Love.

God produced you through Love.

God reproduces Himself in you through Love.

When you operate in Love you reveal God and release God to work miracles.

You are identified to the world by Love.

By this shall men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another…  John 13:35.

Love is the only successful method of operation for the New Testament Church.  The Church was born by love and initially operated through love.  No divisions… no factions… no prejudice…no competitiveness… no jealousy… no envy… no “clergy” and no “laity”…

The membership was “together” and in “one accord” and “had all things common”… only love can produce this.  Love is unity and sharing and giving.

Agape is the cohesive force that binds the Body of Christ together.  Each “joint” (member) supplies this binding agent that unifies and bonds the Body into One Entity.  This is Love.  Agape Love.  The God-kind of Love.

  • Love will not let go.
  • Love will not quit.
  • Love will not give up.

Love never FAILS

The Man from Magadan

The Man from Magadan

Sometimes, something so radical and impossible happens that reinforces God’s Love and Grace.

This incident took place back in the 1980’s shortly after the collapse of Communism in the old Soviet Union.  As a result, the doors in that part of the world were opened wide for the influx of the Gospel.  Following nearly 70 years of oppression, when preaching and church and owning a Bible were illegal and punished severely by the communists, suddenly God made it possible for us to go in and hold evangelistic meetings and distribute Bibles in the Russian Language.

It was during this exciting time that our church was able to organize short term mission trips and travel with small groups of individuals from our congregation into different parts of Russia, the Ukraine and Siberia.  The object was to hold meetings, sponsor pastors and plant churches.  We would purchase a complete sound system, take thousands of New Testaments in the Russian Language, connect with a contact in different cities, and rent a large conference hall to conduct a 3 or 4 day evangelistic meeting and then establish a new church from the converts that were reached.

We took a group from Life Church and targeted Kramatorsk, a large city located in the Ukraine to hold a meeting and establish a church.  Since language was a problem, we would hire translators and interpreters to work with us.  But one area of ministry was not so dependent on understanding words of a different language.  That area was the ministry of music.  So we would prepare a group of songs, usually simple choruses, that were popular and effective in the states and use members of our group to sing, play instruments and minister with music.  Pat was in charge of organizing the musicians and the music we were to use in the crusade.  The Ukrainian people (as were all those we met during this season) were very interested in learning new songs and how to implement them in the new religious freedom they enjoyed.

One day, shortly after we arrived in Kramatorsk, the musicians were rehearsing the songs that were to be used in the opening evening session.  Since the place we were using was adjacent to a busy street lined with different kinds of businesses, the pedestrian traffic walking near us could hear the music and the singing and the praise that was coming from inside our building.  At this time, a man, looking just like the hundreds we saw every day, came into our building and approached one of our translators.  From what I learned later, their conversation centered on the songs and the music our team was practicing.  The man was very excited and explained that he was in charge of the music ministry in his church that was now free to worship without fear of being arrested by the KGB.  The man was very interested to learn how he could have access to what he was hearing so he could teach the people in his church.  He had with him a small, hand written booklet, bound together with a piece of string, containing the songs and choruses he was leading and teaching in his church.  The remarkable thing is, his church was located in the city of Magadan in the far reaches of eastern Siberia.  On the map you can see it is in the proximity of the Bering Sea and nearly 4000 miles from Kramatorsk.  He was so emotional, and so thankful for this miracle moment, when he came in contact with just what he longed for…. and at such an “impossible” circumstance of divine convergence.

One of Pat’s most treasured possessions was the small, tattered, hand-written booklet of the songs the Man from Magadan gave her.  And it was this booklet and this God-Connection that became the passion and motivation for her to compile the first Russian Language Book of songs and spiritual choruses ever published… complete with written music and accompanying words.  Tens of thousands were printed, published and freely distributed throughout all our mission travels inside the Old Soviet Union.

They are still in use in hundreds of churches and home groups over there.

“Located in Russia’s Far East and surrounded by mountains, the Magadan area is so remote that no train lines or roads reach it: one can only get here by sea or plane.

This was Russia’s El Dorado: full of gold, silver, tin and other resources. The main city in the region is Magadan, which is a port on the Sea of Okhotsk, and which served as a major transit center for prisoners sent to Stalin’s labor camps.

The whole area is steeped with memories of the GULAG times [GULAG – Chief Administration of Corrective Labor Camps and Colonies], and the history of the region itself started with labor camps, in their cold barracks.

When gold was discovered here at the end of the 1920s, the Soviet government developed a vast network of labor camps, which exploited more than 2 million prisoners and exiles.

Among them were criminals and Nazi-collaborators, as well as innocent people, who were accused of state treason. In the Stalin era, just a wrong word could get anyone to these places.

More than 100 thousand people died in these mountains of hunger and cold. In some places, the temperatures in winter dropped to minus 50 degrees Celsius (minus 58 Fahrenheit). It was thought a healthy man could survive no more than three winters in those conditions.

Ships filled with prisoners docked in the bay at Magadan. It is here the prisoners’ ordeal began: one in seven never survived it.”

Tune in to God’s Word.

Turn on your Word Confession.  Act out the Word.  Hear the Word, Say the Word and Do the Word.  Do not listen to anything that does not agree with the Word… do not say anything that contradicts the Word and do not do anything that does not line up with the Word.

Tune out doubt.  Tune in Truth.  Seal your lips from death talk.  Make your mouth a fountain of LIFE.  Stop your ears to the natural and hear the Word only.  Govern your behavior and pattern your life by the Word.  Do the Word.  Act the Word.  Stand on the Word.  Say the Word.  Believe the Word.  Honor the Word.  Give the Word first place in your life. Rejoice.

Rejoicing always precedes receiving…  Do you need to receive?  Do you need a Miracle?  Do you need to accomplish the impossible?  Are you standing in an impossible place facing an impossible need looking at an impossible deadline?  Rejoice…  Shout…  Sing… Dance…  Run…  Leap…  Laugh…  Make a joyful noise…

Act like you’ve got what you are believing for before you get it.  When you act like you’ve got it before you get it, you confuse the devil. You release the impossible from the realm of the supernatural and bring it into the realm of the natural.

What you expect is what you get.

“He that expecteth, getteth”…

What you PLAN ON is what usually happens.  If you are planning on a “rainy day” that is what you will normally get.  Expect the Impossible and the impossible can become possible.  What you desire you can acquire.

Put yourself in a position to allow God to do something big for you.  Live on the raw edge of total disaster.  Expect good things to happen.   Know that God will come to your rescue (When you are trusting Him and expecting Him to do what He promises.)

Resist the evil and the bad and the depressing.  Give no place to the devil…  Expect your situations to change when you believe God, apply Word principles and plan on them changing.

Never accept or put up with anything that does not line up with the WORD.

Preaching.

Preaching is done by men.  By women.  By children.  By twice-born, Holy Ghost appointed and anointed human beings.  Not by angels.  Not by Seraphim or Cherubim.  Not by heavenly hosts…  but by Human beings who are full of the Holy Ghost and consumed by Fire.  Those who are Called.  Who are Commissioned.  Who are Ordained by God.  Who are Selected.  Who are Sent.

Jesus was a Preacher.  He was called.  He was appointed.  He was anointed.  He was sent.  First and foremost, Jesus was a Preacher.  He had Fire in His bones, Oil on His head and a Sword in His mouth.

However, His outward qualifications would not be adequate to place Him in a modern ministry.  His demeanor would not qualify Him to be a successful preacher in the setting of today’s church.  His education would be lacking and His experience inadequate to qualify Him for a successful pastoral position in today’s religious world.

He did not dress like a preacher.  He did not keep company with preachers or with people preachers normally keep company with.  He did not act like a preacher, talk like a preacher, or live like a preacher.  He did not have a preachers’ education or a preachers’ credentials.  Yet, He was and is the Son of God.  He was a Word preacher…  Ahead of His time but in tune with His Father.  He was literally consumed with His Call and ready to Die for His Cause.

How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?   Rom 10:14

The Power that Works.

Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,  Eph 3:20

Where does the power and the ability to overcome, to win and to reign come from?  Most would say “from God.”  However, according to the Bible, it comes from what God has done inside the believer.

This power or ability to reign in life (to take and hold dominion) and overcome the world comes from inside the New Creation Man.  Then something must happen to a person to make this possible.  What is it?

It is the New Birth.  The initial Transaction takes place at the time of Salvation.  It happens when one gets Born Again.  At this particular instant, the moment of Regeneration, God Himself comes into the heart of the believing sinner. The believer becomes, through his faith and through the Grace of God, Born Again.  A Child of God…

That person is supernaturally Re-Created.  Saved.  Redeemed.  Regenerated.  Re-gened… his sins are forgiven (and forgotten) and he becomes a New Creation.   We actually, factually and literally become “partakers” of the divine nature of God, our Father. (2Pet 1:4)   We have His character and nature imputed (deposited) to us.

The “internal power” inside of every Born Again Believer is there by the Divine and Supernatural Work of the Holy Spirit that takes place at the time of the New Birth.

1 John 4:4
